Your Sim will start as a level 1 low- level worker, but building their job performance meter will result in promotions. To keep the meter rising quickly, look at the requirements of that job. If your Sim goes to work in a great mood, with a high level of proficiency in the factors required for that job, the meter will usually rise over half way to the top on a single day. Completing career opportunities will usually result in an increase in job performance as well. Tips to Managing Mood for Job Performance. For Optimal performance, a Sim should be in a great mood while at work. This will allow them to use the work hard style of working more often. Also, since mood is a direct factor in every job's performance rating, having a good mood will satisfy one of the multiple requirements to performance. Try to make sure your Sim gets up nice and early before work. Several hours should be needed. Get them to the toilet first, then to the shower. Have the Sim eat a nice meal to boost his mood. Use a spare hour or so to do something they really enjoy, to raise the fun meter and ensure they're having a blast. Managing Skills for Performance. Try to aim for green on every skill that is required of your Sim. If you do raise them early, the skill requirements won't come smack you out of nowhere. Also, if a skill is 'in the green', it will likely be in a great position on the next level, as well. Another tip I'd recommend is to look ahead at future skill requirements for your Sim's career track. For example, if your Sim is a journalist, you know they need writing. When their writing skill is quite high enough, work on the charisma skill some. Later, you'll thank yourself as when charisma appears as a job requirement as it will already be in great shape. Working a head in this way will allow your Sim to work more on boosting their mood while working through the upper stages of the ladder, rather than clawing their way out of a hole because of neglected work skill development. Be a Bookworm. Being a bookworm will make Sims read books faster. Doing this in a library can result in some incredibly fast skilling sessions. Consider swapping out green thumb for bookworm for your Scientist Sims. They won't have to get their hands dirty to learn about plants to improve their skills in Science. Managing Relationships at Work. Many, but not all career tracks require some relationship with the boss or co- workers. Spending some time with the boss outside work is a better option than groveling to them on the job. Well, working hard for a long shift, while in a great mood and keeping stress down, is going to be much more effective than kissing up all day. If you can work them into your Sim's home life, they'll get the best of both worlds. I do think that hanging with co- workers from time to time is very helpful. Still, it takes so long to make friends that way and you may want your Sim to invite one or two co- workers over to focus their efforts. How to tell who is your Sim's boss. When your Sim goes to work the first time, they'll meet their boss. The boss will appear in the Sim's friends list. They should have a desk icon under their relationship meter. Jump to Top.
